From Festival Tent to Unique Product

EUROSTRETCH X UNBEGUN

At UNBEGUN, they give the strongest surplus materials a second life. They upcycle market, transport, and covering tarps, and now also stretch tents, into unique products. We at EUROSTRETCH have partnered with UNBEGUN to transform our residual waste and used fabrics into laptop sleeves, tablet cases, and shoulder bags.

Each product has its own identity, making it unique!

In a world full of discarded materials, there is more than enough to upcycle. Strong, durable materials that have braved all kinds of weather. Stretch tents that have sheltered festivalgoers from the elements of Mother Nature. Our African fabric is easy to clean, waterproof, and has an elegant matte finish. This ensures the material has great potential. Instead of ending up in an incinerator, it is now being transformed into high-quality sleeves, cases, and bags.

The production of our stretch tents results in an average cutting loss of 7%. With this year’s forecast, this will amount to approximately 5,580m2, which would normally be incinerated by the waste processor. 60% of our cutting waste can actually be reused by UNBEGUN. As a result, more than half of our residual materials see the light of day once again!

The biggest environmental impact on the climate comes from the production process of our high-quality fabrics. This is mainly due to the PES & PVC fabric (49%) and the additives used to prevent UV discoloration and make the fabric mold-resistant.

This process takes place externally at the manufacturer, beyond our control as EUROSTRETCH. However, what we can control is our own production process and the waste phase of our cutting loss. The total CO2 impact on the environment from EUROSTRETCH amounts to 19,377kg CO2. This is mainly due to the heating of our production hall.

9,750 kg CO2 is equivalent to:

• Driving 48,000 km in an average petrol car (equivalent to our assembly van’s annual mileage)
• 5,417 m3 of gas consumption (3.5 years of gas use for a standard household in the Netherlands)
• 20 round-trip flights to Munich
• The production of 4,500 steaks
